England Vs West Indies 1st Test Day 2 Preview

#1
Marking international cricket's return, The Wisden Trophy involving England and West Indies promises to pack a punch. The 3-match Test series is being played in the British Isles across 2 venues, namely The Rose Bowl in Southampton (1st Test) and the Old Trafford in Manchester (2nd and 3rd Tests). Whoever draws first blood will have an added advantage going forward in the series and the World Test Championship.

Will the absence of the Barmy Army dent England's confidence, as they are popularly touted as England's '12th Man', or will their experienced players come to the rescue? As the high voltage series pans out, we shall have a better idea. Let us go through the preview for Day 2 of the 1st Test match.

The Match Preview

Venue: The Rose Bowl, Southampton, England

Date: 8th to 12th July

Time: 11:00 A.M. GMT (3:30 P.M. IST) onwards

The Pitch Report

The pitch is expected to assist seam bowlers for a majority part of the match. If there is a uniform thick covering of grass on the pitch, expect the Dukes ball to seam off the pitch and swing in the air even if it gets old aiding the likes of James Anderson & Co, as well as Jason Holder & Co. However, with dry weather expected on Day 2, expect the pitch to assist batsman more than on Day 1.

Weather Forecast

On Day 2, there is plenty of sunshine anticipated throughout the match duration. The temperatures will hover between 19 and 32 degrees Celsius. This is excellent for Test match cricket.
